If you are travelling to the European Union or anywhere on the continent of Europe then it is vital that you take out travel insurance, even if you are a European citizen.
What is also important is that you take a EHIC card which is available free and should be carried on all trips around Europe. As a card holder you are entitled to medical treatment in state hosptials at the same cost as if you lived there, in some instances this would be free. Even if you have an EHIC card then don't be fooled to think you are totally covered for all mecial bills, in many cases you are not, so it is vital you take out travel insurance for Europe.
